Field trips are an important part of the curriculum at MLA.
MLA is such an awesome place. We are blessed to be able to host different activities, serve alongside multiple congregations, and most importantly, share the word of God with children and families every day. This past month was a busy month as we prepared for enrollment, a 7th/8th Grade Basketball Tournament, and the MLA Auction.
I am ecstatic to share that about 80% of the students have re-enrolled for next year and others have expressed their re-enrollments will be coming in February. This is very important as we plan for next year. It gives us a great starting point for budgeting and planning purposes for the upcoming school year. I know the planning seems early, but we are less than 5 months away from approving a budget for the upcoming school year and less than 7 months away from the start of the 2018-19 school year.
We host the Lutheran Athletic League of Kansas City 7th and 8th Grade Basketball Tournament once every 10 years. The tournament rotates among the Lutheran schools in the Kansas City area. We are blessed to have over 70 of the 80 volunteer slots filled and 52 of the 70 donation items filled. I am looking forward to an exciting weekend and can’t wait to serve alongside you.
The MLA Auction is only 3 weeks away! Items are still being donated. The committee is still planning and there is a lot of hard work ahead. There is always room for help and continued word of mouth about attending the auction. The auction is an important fundraiser that helps with the general budget and is applied to specific areas of improvement. One area that we are working to improve is our computer lab. I am getting bids on a Chromebook lab, which will provide students with the ability to work in the lab or in the classroom. There are many apps that can be added onto the Chromebooks that can help with student learning.
This is a great time to be an MLA Eagle! Please keep MLA in your prayers as we continue to serve the Lord. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
