Kutz kids

The story in preschool was of the Resurrection of Jesus, and how He met back with His disciples. The disciples were still rather unsure of the events, and still somewhat afraid that Jesus would leave them again. During this “Jesus Time” lesson, the preschool teacher told the children that even as the disciples (His friends) that He would always be with them, that He was also the best friend of the children and would always be with them wherever they might be, a very reassuring thought, not only for small children, but also for adults. It was shortly after the lesson when a little girl asked to go to the bathroom. From behind the closed door. The preschool teacher heard the little girl call, “Jesus, I’m in here now!”

Yes, she expected, and rightly so, that Jesus was true to His word and would be with her wherever she might be. This little story reminds me, and I think others, that Jesus IS always with us, even during the uncertainties of things that we may face. Some are ill and praying for healing, some are in war zones, some are having emotional challenges, family challenges, some hurting financially, some have unhappy homes lives, etc. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all have that daily “Jesus Time” with our friends to remind us that Jesus is always with us!

It’s National Lutheran Schools’ Week! It’s a time we celebrate the uniqueness of Lutheran schools. It’s a time when we think about all the wonderful things Lutheran schools have to offer our children and their families. We DO have “Jesus Time” every day, and we DO hear about Jesus being with us every day. Yes, we have smaller classes. Yes, we have a family like atmosphere. Yes, we have a quality education. Yes, we have caring, Christian teachers. But, many good schools have the same things. What then, makes us uniquely different? It’s the fact that along with all those other important things, we share Christ every day, to every child, in every classroom. That’s what we celebrate this week! We celebrate that we are a good school that shares Jesus! We are a Lutheran school. We are unique! What a privilege and blessing it is for us to be here!
