4 April

It was Palm Sunday, but because of a sore throat, little 5 year old Sammy stayed home from church with a babysitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying palm fronds. Sammy asked what they were for, and his father replied, “People held them over Jesus’ head and laid them down on the path for Jesus as he walked by.”

Little Sammy complained, “The one day I don’t go, and Jesus shows up!”

Most of the stories I write are true, but this one probably isn’t. It brings a smile, though. This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday, when we commemorate the day that Jesus entered Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of the Passover. It’s a joyous day, a day just before we enter Holy Week, when we more closely remember Jesus’ suffering, death, and then resurrection.

On Wednesday, April 12, we invite you to come to MLA for a very special chapel service. Our 7th and 8th graders will be depicting the Stations of the Cross. We will start in the commons area, and then go in groups to the gym where the stations will be set up by our favorite junior high students. There they will visually show us Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection. This was done last year, and my only regret was that more people were not present to share this with us. So……….you are invited to join us, to share in this special time during Holy Week.

With less than two months of school left, we’ll include our calendar of events each week. This may not be all inclusive, but might help you in your end of year planning!
